A massive amount of money has been invested in order to provide people with improved access to the internet. This could be explained by several reasons and, from my perspective, this spending is by no means optimal way to alloting national financial sources.
That government allocates a high proportion of state budget to internet sector with the aim to boost economic progress and education. First and foremost, not only does the advent of internet offer a lot of job opportunities but also it enhances work productivity. To illustrate, the world has recently witnessed an increasing number of internet-based businesses such as facebook marketing and online sales which allow sellers to easier approach customers, domestic and international alike, by means of advertisements on networking websites. As a result, that facilitates commodity consumption and good circulation making a partial contribution to countries’ GDP growth. Furthermore, when the network is expanded, students, even in remote areas, can gain instant access to a reservoir of knowledge uploaded on the online database as well as participate in distance courses at anytime.
However, such money dispensation is unproductive in several countries not having good financial ability and network security. To commence with, instead of spending a huge sum of money on providing internet service, nations, especially underprivedged ones, need to allocate their limited budget to other major fields namely health care, transportation so as to ensure a stable and comprehensive development. Additionally, it is an undeniable fact that internet-devices namely smartphones and computers seem to prone to viruses and hacker attacks; therefore, if authorities relentlessly spread network without guaranteeing network security, that will take tolls on people’s and institutions’ confidential information and properties.
In conclusion, there are two main reasons for government’s expenditure on improving internet access; and I personally believe this is far from the most effective budgeting policy
