The diagram below shows the life cycle of a salmon, from egg to adult fish.
The flow chart gives the information different stages of a salmon fish’s life, starting from egg to adult fish.
It is clear that there are six major steps in the development process of salmon beginning as eggs and ending as mature adults. In addition, salmon travel to the river, estuary, ocean and return to their place of birth.
At the beginning of the life cycle, eggs are laid and incubated in rivers. After emerging from eggs, the salmon fry spend some time growing in freshwater and this stage is called freshwater wearing. Then, salmon migrates to a second type of water called estuary where seawater and freshwater meet, for another stage of rearing. Following the estuary rearing period, the maturing salmon start their seaward migration. Here, rearing continues until they grow bigger and mature. Finally, the adult fish journey back to spawning areas of rivers. Here they reproduce and lay their eggs and the life cycle repeats itself.Attachments:
