The charts compare percentages for five activities in public libraries between 1990 and 2000 in Britain.
Overall, the number of people visiting public libraries rose significantly in ten years. One noticeable point is that borrow or return books accounted for the largest proportion of the public library’s using in two years (1990 and 2000).
In 1991, around 65% of the public library’s visits was spent on borrow or return books, however, this figure fell considerably to 55% in 2000. By contrast, while borrow or return video’s activity did not open in 1991, this service had the largest growing speed ten years later, at 18%.
Regarding the other use of public libraries, both study and read newspaper or magazine sectors witnessed a remarkable decline the figures visiting by 8% and 10% respectively. The opposite was true for obtaining information sector, this percentage grew double with starting 10%.
