When choosing a job, the salary is the most important consideration. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

People often have differing views when deciding on a job. Many consider a high salary to be the most influential motivation while others have their career based on enjoyment or other non-financial factors. In my opinion, I disagree with the idea that a high salary is the key consideration because I believe that all of the motivators are equally important.

On the one hand, there are a variety of reasons why people often seek a high-paying job. First of all, people need to meet their basic needs. In other words, they have a lot of bills to cover in terms of housing, education, sanitation, and electricity, so earning a high wage allows workers to have a reasonable quality of life and even go on luxury holidays. Also, a competitive salary is an appealing deal given to gifted employees. For example, when a company’s leaders offer rewarding perks to a promising worker, this will secure his position in the business and encourage him to boost his productivity.

On the other hand, other factors also influence people’s job choice. The first consideration would be job satisfaction. The atmosphere of a workplace and the friendliness of co-workers are usually taken into account, and also workers’ preferences play an integral part, which explain why a great number of job seekers, in fact, are likely to opt for a career at their discretion regardless of the money offered. What is more, there are many people who wish to devote their time and money to the needy, and do not need recognizing for their contributions. For instance, a lot of organizations such as the UnIted Nations and the Red Cross have been launching popular campaigns around the world, sending humanitarian assistance, and constructing schools and other facilities for the disadvantaged, all of which would bring about a much more civilized society.

In conclusion, while a high-paying job certainly affect people’s job choice, I do not believe that it outweighs other motivators.
