      The bar chart compares five key cities in term of the cost of an average house over a period of 13 years from 1989.
      It is clear that house prices in Madrid and Frankfurt increased from 1990 to 2002 compared with 1989, which is in contrast to Tokyo. It is also noticeable that London was. London experienced by far the greatest changes in house prices over the period shown.
      Over the 5 years after 1989, the highest fall in house prices was seen in Tokyo and London, at 12% under the 1989 average. Similarly, this trend also occurred in New York, with a decrease of 5%. By contrast, the cost of homes in both Madrid and Frankfurt increased around 2% above the 1989 average .
      Between 1996 and 2002, London house prices had a dramatic change when it rose to 11% above the 1989 average . The cost of homes in New York, Madrid , and Frankfurt also went up to 5%, 4%, and 1% respectively compared with 1989, whereas homes in Tokyo remained cheaper than they were in 1989.
