Topic: It is more important for governments to spend public funds on promoting a healthy lifestyle than treatment. Do you agree or disagree?
Many people have valued the significance of spending state money on promotion of healthy lifestyle over that of treatment for the unwell. In my opinion, I disagree with this view because both of them have distinctive roles in dealing with diseases.
On the one hands, health funds should be allocated on stimulating a healthy lifestyle as it directly links to human resistance against a vast number of diseases. Owing to robust technology, jobs have switched from manual jobs to desk jobs giving people no choice but have to be involved in a sedentary lifestyle. As a consequence, inadequate physical activities lead to poor health conditions in later years of those people’s life. For example, sitting at least 6 hours in front of the computer is easily cause back pain and heart diseases. However, victims are in little awareness of their daily unhealthy habits bringing negative effects on their body and sometimes, only realize when suffering grave consequences at the end of their life. This would place emphasize on the involvement of the government not only on launching propagation campaigns to raise citizens’ awareness on the importance of sustaining healthy lifestyle but also on establishing and maintaining numerous playgrounds as well as other recreational facilities for resident to regularly exercise.
On the other hand, government should invest money on healthcare constructions as well as experimenting new medicine. Firstly, these investments would allow hospitals to renovate existing facilities and construct new ones, addressing a growing demand on healthcare services. For example, due to degraded infrastructure as well as inadequate bed provisions, many central hospitals in Hanoi have struggled with extremely overloading serious patients which need the support of public funds. Secondly, there are much more life – threatening diseases like dengue fever and Ebola which emphasize the necessity of treatment. Thanks to a vast of money spent on medical breakthrough, life – saving drugs have create miracles by saving countless lives all around the world.
All the existed data aforementioned has provided concrete foundation that stimulations on healthy lifestyle and treatment for those who are suffering from illness cannot brought into consideration to see which one is better for government to devote time and money because both of them are equal meanings to cope with diseases.
