TOPIC: It is observed that in many countries not enough students choosing to study scientific subjects. What are the causes and solutions?
It is widely acknowledged that science plays an integral role in the development of our society as a whole. However, some countries are now facing with the deficiency in students majoring scientific subjects, which is rooted from various reasons and may be tackled thanks to practical policies as well.
To begin with, there are a number of explanations as to why scientific subjects , such as Math or Physics, become less attractive among students these days. The first reason may be due to financial issues. To be specific, in developing countries, such as Vietnam, scientists are not appreciated and well-paid as those whose majors are economics and politics, which will certainly pose significant hardships for them to settle down future life. Furthermore, poor infrastructure is another factor that deters students from scientific career. Many students hesitate to pursue science as their careers due to the lack of modern laboratories and necessary facilities to keep up with the pace of scientific advances in their countries.
Accordingly, it is imperative for authorities to carry out effective solutions in order to tackle this trend. To deal with the financial issues, governments should pass policies to set up an acceptable salary standard in an effort to encourage more students to follow scientific subjects such as Math or Physics. Additionally, investment in infrastructure is also a practical solustion toincrease the number of scientists-to-be. Authorities should spend considerable budget on experimental facilities as well as modern laboratories for a professional researching environment, which will definitely attract more students to science in the future.
In conclusion, although decreasing number of scientists-to-be is a common trend in some countries, it can be partly tackled thanks to abovementioned methods.
