Some people think that young people should follow the traditions of their society. Other think that they should be free to behave as individuals.
Discuss both views and give your opinion.
Task
Opinions are divided that whether young people should follow old lifestyle or they should be free to live in their own ways in the modern society. Personally, I think young people have a right to embrace positive changes to make their lives better.
On the one hand, it is true that conventional customs need to be preserved by young generations. Firstly, some habits and customs has been desmontrated as speciality because they made up nations’ identities. With the fast developed speed of the modern societies, unless we have offered measures to conserve traditional values, they will be able to die out. Therefore, preserving time-honored culture should be responsibility of young people. Secondly, maintaining traditional culture would be a best way to enhance relationship between generations in a family as wel as national solidarity. For example, making Square cake is one of the Vietnamese habits and customs on Tet holiday that has been preserved for thousand of years. This is a special occasion that members in a families can gather and prepare this kind of cake for the greatest holiday.
On the other hand, young people should be allowed to keep up with the society’s changing because of a better life. Indeed, some customs have been so obsolete that they are not suitable for modern life. Therefore, it is unrealistic to force juniors to keep them. Furthermore, people need to adapt to new environment when being in a modern society by absorbing innovation of science and technology. Taking some hi-tech equipments in households as examples, it is clear that our lives become more comfortable and convenient with the support of state of the art devices. This results in people have more time to concentrate on their main responsibilities other than housework. Therefore, I believe we should let children make their own choices rather than accepting the old lifestyle.
In brief, young people can be chosen their own lives beside respecting conventional habits and customs. However, they should not be obligatory to conserve all of them because some have been outdated.
