Topic: People tend to believe that all young adults should be a compulsory part of high school programmes. Do you agree or disagree?
It is suggested that unpaid community service should be mandatory in curriculum of highschool. In my opinion, I agree that volunteering should be encouraged in middle school because the tremedous value for students and a good option to evaluate students’ life-skill competence beside academic knowledge as well.
It is true that volunteerism is beneficial for students in several ways. It provides youngsters with employment aspect that potrays how career will be like in the future. Voluntary work opens up a new horizon and this is an excellent way for students to explore their passions. Teaching children might be suitable for some youngsters, thus this paves the way for them to pursuit education careers. Furthermore, volunteerism furnishes an active environment in which young people can get involve for better using of spare time. Students have opportunity to hone their communication skills, problem solving while facing with practical challenges. Staying indoor to play games, surf the net are preferred by youngsters nowadays so that making children engage in outdoor activities would keep them in a healthier life.
Volunteer work has become more and more popular because it is not beneficial only for individual but also the development of the entire society. In some countries, with the increase of aging population, workforce has shrunk considerably. Therefore, we can capitalize on available source of labour in some sections. For instance, children in remote area barely have chance to approach foreign language due to lack of teachers. Young people from cities who have better background in learning foreign language can play roles as teacher to deliver knowledge for mountainous children. In addition, students would see the meaningfulness of their commitment to the community. They can pay contribute to society and feel like a part of it. Volunteering upholds a sense of community which counteracts the detachment escalating in today’s society.
