Many museums and historical sites are mainly visited by tourists but not local people. Why
is this the case and what can be done to attract more local people to visit these places?
It is true that local inhabitants pay less visits to museums and historical places in their area than tourists who come from many parts of the world. There are a number of reasons for this and several solutions should be addressed by attracting locals in some practical ways.
There are two key reasons why local inhabitants do not usually visit attracted positions in their region. One reason is that local views are too familiar to the residents. If museums have not any changes, there are not any new things for people to discover. It is so boring to visit old places again. Another reason is that resident can not afford to pay for entrance fees. It is quite expensive for the local inhabitants who working as a farmer and enought to live. For example, in Ha giang, a moutain area in Northwestern Vietnam, It is too hard for residents spend their money to pay that fees, because they are too poor.
The authority should take some solutions to tackle this issues in some practical way. First, local museums ought to invested by the government or any organization who will refresh and preserve these places by a certain period. That will make increased not only residents but also new visitors who are curious to discover attract places. Second, historical relics should be discount or giving a suitable entrance fee for local people. It encourage residents pay more visits historical sites in order broaden their knowlege about howtown.
In conclusion, there are some known reasons for this status and the authorities need to tackle these problems to attract more visitors from the local ares.
