Today, majority of children are raised by their grandparents due t o the fact
that their parents are busy working. To what extent do you think that it
affects the whole family?
It is true that, most young parents regularly concentrate in making money nowadays, and sending their offspring for grandparents. I strongly believe that there are both several positive and negative impacts when grandparents and children live together.
On the one hand, there are a lot of advantages why children should raised by grandparents. Firstly, Grandparents have a great amount of retired time to look after children much than their parents, therefore; caring of children by grandparents will more guaranteed. For example, grandmothers usually have lots of spare time to spend on getting market, choosing fresh foods, and cooking variety dishes, thus children could be assured an adequate nutrition source everyday. Another advantage is that children will have more opportunities to learn about the traditional culture of the country in the past from their grandparents. Besides, children also aware the importance of big family relationships, and from that they will know to respect the family love.
However, there are some difficult issues in grandchildren’s raising. The most challenge is the grandparent will be difficult in teaching teenagers when the kids enter adulthood, because of generation gap between the old people and the younger. For instance, some education methods of the older are no longer suitable for the young generation. Secondly, grandparents usually pamper their grandchildren as result of creating a few bad habits for kids.
In conclusion, there are both advantages and disadvantages in raising children by grandparents. I believe that growing up of children will better when they are caring by both grandparents and parents.
