Many people go to university for academic study. More people should be encouraged to do vocational training because there is lack of qualified workers such as electricians and plumbers. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Nowadays, it is true that the majority of students choose college to pursue a higher education, many people believe that they should take a vocational training instead, as there is a high demand of qualified employees on many areas such as electronics or tourism. While I accept that doing vocational training is necessary to get a job, I believe that going to college is a good way to guarantee a successful life.
One the one hand, there are many attractive reasons why people should do vocational training. One reason is that not everyone is good at academic study. In fact, there is a high rate of people who dropped out of college each year, they should spend their time doing what they’re really want instead of wasting time by taking a high level in four-year academic degree program. By doing vocational training, they can be able to earn basic working skills and go to work straight away in the field interests them. Another reason is that job-ready skills and a highschool graduated degree are enough required for many jobs, such as cooks, electricians and plumbers … people can make a living as soon as possible and even live independently on their own income.
On the other hand, getting higher education is beneficial in many ways. First, some jobs require some degrees in particular, such as lawyers, teachers, doctors … A person can’t become a doctor if he doesn’t have related certifications in their specialized field. Otherwise, having a college degree help students are able to meet higher-level qualifications, like Phd, or master degree… Second, job market is becoming more and more competitive, there are hundreds of applicants chase the top jobs. To be standing out, people need to improve their specialize knowledge as well as other necessary skills, and having a degree strengthen their profile and get more advantages than those don’t have.
In conclusion, it is certainly true that taking a vocational training can help students get an ideal job right away, but continue studying in colleges or university may suit many people.
