Global warming is one of the biggest threats humans face in the 21st century and sea levels are continuing to rise at alarming rates. What problems are associated with this and what are some possible solutions?
For the last few decades, climate change has become one of the most pressing problems today. If sea levels continue increasing, humans could be on the verge of extinction. While there are various reasons for this issue, I strongly believe that we could solve it by many means.
Global warming is caused by multiple key factors. Firstly, industries are booming all over the world and carbon dioxide emitted from industrial activities has an adverse impact on the global climate. Secondly, although natural factors such as forest burning are likely overlooked, they are considered as a primary cause to the devastating phenomenon. Last but not least, deforestation reduces drastically the total size of forest which helps us protect the planet from climate change. This issue is commonplace in developing countries where residents are still struggling with basic amenities and the burn forests to extend their farm areas.
One of the major solution is that local authorities might adopt policies to industrial activities which produce a large amount of greenhouse gases. Also, scientists could play an important role in resolving this issue as the new cutting-edge technologies they develop could help us curb the climate change. At the same time, environmentalist could play a more active role in raising public awareness so that states could have more effective ways to protect forests. For example, thanks to the effort of French activists, the country has just passed a new law in which individuals engaging in criminal deforestation may face capital punishment. With this law in place, by 2050, the nation might have had no forest loss by human activities.
