The bar chart gives information about the highest qualification which obtained by Wales adults in term of gender in the period from 2001 to 2002.
Overall, it can be seen that both males and females were not likely to pursue higher education in Wales during the research period. In contrast, the proportion of man who attained the GCE A level or equivalent degrees stood at the highest rate, while woman tended to achieve GCSE grade A[*]- C or equivalent degrees.
The proportion of males achieved GCE A level was 28%, which was the highest rate for male, whereas the figure for females only took nearly a half of this rate. In contrast, the largest proportion of females was observed at approximately 30% people who attained GCSE grade, compared to only 18% was witnessed in the percentage of man.
The remaining sectors saw a smaller gap between man and woman. To be more specific, the percentage of male residents who gained a degree was a little higher than that of female by 2%. The figure for other qualifications was also observed the same trend. Meanwhile, the proportions of Wales citizens pursuing higher degree of each gender were less than 10%.Attachments:
