The line graph gives the information about the percentages of joblessness in two countries (the US and Japan) from March 1993 to March 1999.
Overall, while the ratio of people who are unemployed in the US fell gradually, the figure for the populations have no job in Japan increased steadily over the period of six years. However, the unemployment proportion in the US is virtually higher than that of Japan during the period shown.
As for the US, from March 1993 to March 1996, the number of unemployed people rose considerably from 2.5% to above 4% of workforce. Nevertheless, there was a slight drop in the figure after March 1996 to 4%. But, after that it recovered, climbed up, and reached the peak of more than 5% between March 1998 and March 1999. Finally, it tended to have a downward trend.
Regarded as Japan, in March 1993, the percentage of joblessness tripled the number of the US, exactly 7%. Two years later, the figure for unemployment dropped and fluctuated by 2.5%. However, there was a modest rise in the number of inhabitants being unemployed of 0.5% from 1995 to 1996. Over the final four years, it fell sustainably to 5% in March 1999.
