Task 2: For school children, their teachers have more influence on their intelligence
and social development than their parents. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
It is believed that teachers have more impact on both the intelligence and social development of children than their own parents. Personally, I argue that while teachers may have more influence on the intelligence of their pupils, their parents certainly exert a greater influence on the social development of their children.
On the one hand, teachers play a crucial role in encouraging the intellectural development and intelligence of children. Teachers have been trained to impart their knowledges to children, stimulate them to study and improve their academic achievement.. Moreover, teachers could also discover the talents of children and then guide them to pursue their careers. Therefore, teacher would be the major inspiration for their studying during the formative year of the children
On the other hand, I think that parents take the main responsibility for guiding their children in social life. Firstly, it is true that parents spend more time with their children than any of their teachers. As a results, parents can monitor and understand their children through their activities outside schools. Secondly, parents can play a role model for their children to imitate. Children can learn by observing their parents to deal with plenty of situations, such as treating the elderly, traditional customs of family or proper behaviour in public.
In conclusion, although teachers have a greater affect on the intelligence of children, parents play a vital role on the development of children in social situations.
