1. In recent years, more and more people are choosing to read e-books rather than paper books. Do the advantages outweigh the disadvantages of this trend?
It is true that there is a tendency toward switching to read digital books instead of the conventional way of reading. Although this trend exists both pros and cons, I believe its advantages outweigh its drawbacks
On the one hand, the biggest disadvantages of reading e-books is that they require us to stare at a screen for a very long time, thus can be detrimental our eyes. More and more children have vision problems in the modern world because of the excessive use of digital devices. However, this issue could be tackled by applying a vision protection screen for computers or smartphones as well as wisely managing our time spend on digital screens.
On the other hand, there are numerous benefits to reading electronic books. Firstly, e-books are more convenient and handy, since they only require a small space to store and easily carry them around, compare to paper books, which we have to limit the number of books when bring them along. Another advantage is that we can receive e-books immediately after we download them to our devices, while buying paper book online consumes at least one day or even a week for the order to be delivered. Importantly, digital books is environmentally friendly, since they do not require paper, which means that no trees has been cut down to produce e-books.
In conclusion, since e-books bring a vast number of advantages in many aspects. They do not require woods to manufacture paper, not occupy physical space to store and they are portable.
