The graph below shows the percentage of graduates who found jobs as teacher of English or French in Ontario between 2001 and 2007.
In the beginning of 2001, the number of first-year teachers are both around of 75 % and have a trend to decreased. At the period of 2001 to 2002, the amount of first-year English teachers are slightly higher than French. However, this trend doesn’t exist for too long, In the beginning of 2002, the percentage of English Teacher increased sharply from nearly 50% to 70% in 2003. On the other hand, the trend for French is opposite, is still decrease to 40 % at the same period.
After a sharply increased, the number of graduates who found employments as an English-teachers still rise. It was fluctuated around of 70% from 2003 to 2007. In constract, the significant decreased of the first-year French-teacher finally stop and slightly increase by 2-5 % from 2003 to 2005. But at the end of the period, it had trend to fall lower than 30 % in 2007.
Overall, it can be seen that the amount of graduate who success at finding an employment as an English teachers are dramatically lower than French and still fell down by time. In the other hand, the amount of first-year French teachers steady increased almost all of the period.
