Topic: In the developed world, average life expectancy is increasing. What problems will this cause for individuals and society? Suggest some measures that could be taken to reduce the impact of aging populations.
In the modern world, with a rapid development of healthcare, life expectancy is increasing. This may lead to some enormous problems on both individuals and society itself which, therefore, can be reduced by taking action.
The fact that people live longer makes an increase in the number of retired people who live by pensions from governments. Consequently, a huge burden will be put on young adults and the tax they have to pay will be greater. That means people who are in labor age are forced to put more efforts and energies to gain a standardized life. For example, workers in Japan spend increasingly frantic hours for their job and barely have time for entertaining. Their regular shelters are the office and their own house. Another effect of high life expectancy is that the demand for healthcare will rise. Therefore, the young will have to take care of elderly members of their family and have rare time for their own space.
However, these problems can be solved by some changes in national policy. Firstly, with a high quality in health system, citizens have to retire later. It can ease working pressure for young adults. Secondly, in some countries which old people overwhelm, habitants should be encouraged to have more children to make the young workforce in the future. Moreover, government should also welcome immigrants so that the number of young settlers will be grown.
In conclusion, it is clear that there are various problems caused by aging populations and steps need to be taken to reduce the impact of this.
